A free gingival graft is used to thicken unattached non-keratinised gum tissue that will likely recede if not protected. What does the surgery involve? We create a pouch in the recipient area, take a small piece of tissue from the palate and then stitch it onto the required area. It’s extremely predictable, usually takes 30-45 mins and is carried under local anaesthesia.
The photo shows how it looks immediately after surgery.
