Varkha qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Queen Mary (University of London) and went on to undertake posts in general practice and hospital. During this time, her passion for gold standard dentistry was reflected by the numerous accolades she went on to win. Following this, Varkha was accepted onto the four-year periodontology postgraduate pathway at King’s College London, Guy’s Dental Hospital.
As well as treating complex periodontal cases, Varkha has an active role in periodontal research which she thoroughly enjoys. She is particularly interested in the associations between periodontitis, systemic health and lifestyle factors. As a result, she has published related articles in peer-reviewed journals. Being an enthusiast for inter-professional collaborations and integrated pathways between the dental and medical professions, Varkha started a ‘Periodontitis and Diabetes’ initiative which received a national award and resulted in her being invited to lecture internationally on periodontitis and the systemic axis.
RW Perio’s commitment to excellence allows Varkha to continue to provide the highest quality periodontal care to all patients.
In her spare time, Varkha enjoys reading, drawing, and maintaining her fitness (plus an occasional afternoon tea).
